About Protea Farm

Protea Farm is a 25 acre property in the beautiful Erudgere Valley, a hidden gem only 12 km from Mudgee town centre. We offer quality self catering accommodation in a relaxing and beautiful rural setting only 10 minutes drive away from all that Mudgee has to offer visitors.

Vanessa & Fiona came to Australia from the UK in 2007, and after 18 months of traveling around the country in a Winnebago, decided to settle in Mudgee after falling in love with the region, the people, and the food and wine. Vanessa is a Kiwi and Fiona is from the UK. We have been the owners and occupants of Protea Farm since Easter 2009 and now work full time developing the gardens and grounds and most of all ensuring that the guests at Protea Farm enjoy a relaxing and memorable Mudgee experience.

Pepper Tree and Grevillea Cottages are situated on 25 acres, half of which is cultivated and half natural bushland with walking paths. Both are fully self contained houses, situated about 100 metres apart with communal gardens and tennis court between.

With wood-burning fires for the winter, and air-conditioning and outdoor barbecues for the summer months, you are assured a comfortable and relaxing break. Our cottages are ideal for singles and couples wanting solitude and total relaxation and perfect for large adult groups wanting to book both of them for that special occasion or mini break. Exclusive use of the cottage ensures you will not be disturbed.

Protea Farm is a must for food lovers. Our kitchens have everything from baking paper to blenders and your own culinary herb garden. If the hens are not sitting on a clutch of eggs we normally have plenty of chicken and duck eggs available.

Glorious scenery surrounded by rolling hills, but only a short drive directly into the centre of town. Only 2 km from your front door you will discover Blacklea, Burnbrae and Thistle Hill wineries even before you hit the rest of the wine trails.

For the more energetic we have a full sized professionally laid artificial grass tennis court and there are clearly marked bush walks to enjoy. Roo route and Wombat way are two walks we have just finished through our 13 acres of bush so plenty to give the body a good work out. There is something for everyone but whatever you choose, it is, 'in every sense perfection'.

Due to our free range poultry and stock we do not allow pets on the property.
